Director, Clinical & Medical Education
The Director is responsible for the creation, development, delivery and quality of all educational content for healthcare professionals. S/he will provide direction for the creation of innovative activities based on efficient and effective workflows and operations of the Clinical & Medical Education Group. S/he will be responsible for an efficient and well coordinated team approach, managing both the Clinical Editor Team and Editorial Operations Team, and partnering with both internal and external partners. This individual will drive the development and delivery of high-quality, clinically-relevant, practice-oriented robust and real-world continuing education programs for healthcare professionals through various channels for timely delivery.

Primary Responsibilities of the Director will include:

Content Management and Education Development

-Manages day-to-day activities of Clinical Editor Staff to maximize pro-active contributions to educational activities and ensuring that group meets commitments, deliverables and deadlines

-Partners with internal and external contributors to direct the development and implementation of content based on validated curricula and gaps in clinical care for education initiatives in various linked formats in multiple disease and therapeutic categories

-Manages staff in utilization of adult learning principles driving education format and content development as well as innovation, quality and outcomes

-Contributes to and implements meaningful outcomes research to demonstrate the link between adult learning principles, education interventions & outcomes

-Identifies and communicates project goals relative to clinical editor responsibilities; identifies and gains cooperation from necessary departments; identifies and coordinates acquisition of necessary resources; creates and communicates schedules; and manage detailed tracking and status of project progress, issues, risks, etc.

-Monitors and manages progress and completion of group deliverables through metrics and budget data and modifies systems and processes as needed to optimize group performance

-Ensures activity documentation to ensure that the conduct of each session is in accordance with ACCME, ACPE, ANCC and other accredited-organization requirements, as appropriate



Editorial Operations

-Manages day-to-day activities of Editorial Operations Staff ensuring that group meets deliverables and deadlines

-Sets standards and quality assurance processes for editorial operations deliverables and management

-Identifies and communicates project goals relative to Editorial Operations Staff responsibilities, identifies and gains cooperation from necessary departments, identifies and coordinates acquisition of necessary resources, creates and communicates schedules, and manages detailed tracking and status of project progress, issues, risks, etc.

-Ensures integration of Editorial Operations Staff systems, processes and collaboration with those of Clinical Editors to achieve optimum efficiencies

-Implements and oversees steps to manage workflow, and to create, edit and process content

-Works closely with other teams to assess project time requirements and assist in project planning

-Monitors and manages progress and completion of group deliverables through metrics and budget data and modifies systems and processes as needed to optimize group performance

-Monitors and summarizes progress of projects relative to project deadlines and deliverables; prepares reports for Executives of ongoing status of projects Ideal



Qualifications:

Advanced degree and 3+ years of experience in biomedical field

Experience in clinical practice and/or research AND extensive experience in biomedical and clinical writing, editing, preferable in the area of continuing education for healthcare professionals

Knowledge of clinical medicine and practice required

Knowledge of adult learning principles and documented application required

Knowledge of guidelines, standards and regulations relative to medical and healthcare professional education and communications required

Experience overseeing and managing work flow of a fast-paced editorial department, including management of timelines and budget

Demonstrated experience communicating effectively and establishing strong relationships internally and externally
